Freight logistics company MRS and local steelmaker Companhia Siderurgica Nacional (CSN) have signed a contract addition for an existing iron ore transportation deal, the two companies said.

MRS did not disclose how much iron ore it will transport for CSN, but it indicated the new volumes should be higher. MRS said CSN will pay BRL 188.3 million in eight annual installments of BRL 23.5 million to compensate for the updated volumes. The updated contract is valid until November 30, 2026.

MRS is owned by several steelmakers and mining groups, including CSN (38 percent), Minerações Brasileiras Reunidas (33 percent), Vale (11 percent), Usiminas Participações e Logística SA (11 percent), Gerdau (1 percent), among other shareholders (6 percent).

MRS said it will also update the terms of a transportation contract for Vale, despite not releasing further details. The company also indicated it is in talks with Gerdau for a transportation contract, the details of which not disclosed, and MUSA, the iron ore division of Brazilian flats steelmaker Usiminas.
