Moldavian Metallurgical Plant sees increased March steel output

Moldavian Metallurgical Plant (MMZ) has announced that in March this year it increased its steel billet output by 24 percent month on month to 46,571 mt, and has raised its rolled steel product output by 49.6 percent month on month to 42,815 mt.

MMZ's shipments in March this year increased by 81.3 percent month on month, amounting to 46,196 mt, including 26,697 mt to non-CIS countries (58 percent of total shipments) and 19,499 mt to CIS countries (42 percent of total shipments). The producer's deliveries of special grade steel products amounted to 14,664 mt during the month in question.

Meanwhile, during the first quarter of 2010, MMZ produced 84,135 mt of steel billets and 77,867 mt of rolled steel products. Meanwhile, the company's deliveries amounted to 82,797 mt of finished products, including 34,754 mt to CIS markets and 48,043 mt to non-CIS markets, representing 42 percent and 58 percent respectively of its total shipments. Special grade steel shipments accounted for 20,221 mt of total shipments in the first three months of 2010.
