Mobarakeh Steel targets sales of seven million mt of flat steel in FY 2017-18

Iranian steel producer Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC) has announced that it aims to sell seven million mt of different types of flat steel products in the current 2017-18 financial year, ending March 20, 2018. MSC’s chief sales and marketing officer Mahmoud Akbari stated that the company would set a new sales record if it could reach the seven million mt sales target, and added that it will increase production of hot rolled sheets and slabs, but that the production of cold rolled and coated steel sheets will remain unchanged.

MSC’s steel sales increased by 19 percent year on year to 2.18 million mt in the first four months of the current financial year, while its supply of steel products increased by 53 percent in the domestic market, standing at 1.89 million mt for the same period. The company’s steel exports in the first four months of the 2017-18 financial year totaled 290,000 mt, falling by 83 percent year on year. Slabs accounted for the better part of MSC’s exports in the given period, while its hot rolled flat steel exports amounted to 104,000 mt, decreasing from 606,000 mt in the same period of the previous year.
