MMX, Samarco register diverging iron ore export figures

Brazil iron ore producers MMX and Samarco saw diverging figures for iron ore exports in June 2014, the country’s iron ore industry association Sinferbase said.

While MMX had a 129.5 decrease in exports, Samarco saw a 33.2 percent rise in external sales. According Sinferbase, MMX exported 166,000 mt of the product in June 2014, down from 773,000 mt a year ago.

Samarco exported 2.5 million mt of the product in June 2014, up from 1.6 million mt a year ago.
