Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it achieved a new output record of 953,300 metric tons of finished steel at its rolling mill 5000 in 2015. The previous record of 943,400 mt was set in 2010. The mill, commissioned in 2009, produces high-margin thick plate with width of up to 4,850 millimeter to be used in the oil and gas industry, as well as in ship and bridge building and in machinery manufacturing.

MMK supplies steel produced at mill 5000 to leading pipe producers for major projects being implemented by Russia's major oil and gas companies such as Gazprom, Transneft and Lukoil. These projects include the Sakhalin-Khabarovsk-Vladivostok, Bovanenkovo-Ukhta and Southern Corridor gas pipelines, as well as the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean and Kuyumba-Taishet oil pipelines.
