The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in March it plans to resume operations at full capacity at its tin and polymer coating units, while its galvanizing unit is to operate at 92.6 percent of its capacity in the same month.
In November-December 2008, the hot dip galvanizing and electrolytic tinning units at MMK's coating shop were working at 50 percent of their capacities, while the polymer coating unit was operating at 40 percent of its capacity. In 2008, the deliveries from MMK's coating shop amounted to 641,000 mt, down 5.7 percent from 680,000 mt planned.
Up to now MMK's tin coating unit has been operating at 65 percent of its capacity, its polymer coating unit has been working at 68 percent capacity, while its galvanizing unit has been operating at 75 percent capacity.
In addition, in April 2009 MMK is planning a five-day overhaul at its continuous hot dip galvanizing line.
