The Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that its mechanical engineering subsidiary ZAO MRK has completed the reconstruction of the foundry facilities at MMK.

Up to the end of 2008, MRK installed and commissioned at MMK two new electric arc furnaces, a modern gas cleaning system, and necessary technical equipment.

The reconstruction of its foundry facilities, which started in 2007, allows MMK to halt its open hearth furnace operations and to switch over to electric smelting production technology, thereby expanding its production range.
