The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that it has developed and launched the production of a new class of high-strength super-low-carbon micro-alloyed hot galvanized steel grades.
Accordingly, the Metal Expo 2010 award-winning new class of steel was developed by MMK jointly with the Central Scientific Research Institute of Ferrous Metallurgy from Russia. The new steel products are characterized by high strength and plasticity and yield points higher than 210 MPa - up to 800 MPa and even 1,200 MPa.
The use of high-strength rolled products in the car making industry makes automobiles safer, less heavy and therefore more efficient. In addition, the high-strength rolled steel products are used in the home appliances manufacturing industry, and have been increasingly used in the construction industry.
