The Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in August this year it continued to increase its steel product sales to the Russian domestic market, which accounted for nearly three-quarters of its overall shipments of steel products during the month.

Accordingly, in August MMK sold more than 228,000 mt in the export markets of its 847,000 mt of commercial steel products produced in the month. Thus, the export component in the structure of MMK's shipments decreased to 26.9 percent - the lowest share reached since the pre-crisis month of July 2008.

In January-August, MMK's exports (excluding supplies to CIS countries) amounted to about 2.385 million, which is 34.9 percent of MMK's overall shipments. MMK's main sales regions for export are the Middle East and Europe.
