During the repair works, the entire equipment base of BF No. 9 has been renovated and new equipment has been installed such as new loading machinery produced by Luxembourg-based equipment-maker Paul Wurth.

As a result of the renovation of the BF No.9, MMK has been able to improve the quality of produced metal, increase production to 5,000 metric tons of pig iron from 4,000 metric tons per day, and also reduce the BF's use of metallurgical coke.

The BF No. 9 had been shut down for a total of 76 days due to the renovation works.
