MMK and Atakas getting ready to commission SSC in Iskenderun

MMK-Atakas Metalurji San.Tic.ve Liman İsletmeciligi A.S., a JV project between Russian steelmaker Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) and one of Turkey's leading mining companies Atakas Group, is getting ready to commission its steel service center (SSC) in Iskenderun in December 2008, while the JV's second SSC is slated for commissioning in Istanbul in 2009, MMK officials have informed SteelOrbis.

As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the main production facilities of the JV will be located in Iskenderun. The new mill will have an annual capacity of 2.5 million mt of hot rolled coil, one million mt of cold rolled, 900,000 mt of hot dip galvanized, and 400,000 mt of color coated.
