Russian steel producer Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel Works (MMK) has announced that in 2014 it saw record production at its mill 2000, which produced 5.93 million mt of hot rolled products, the biggest annual output volume since its launch in 1994.

The mill 2000, which is one of the most impressive and state-of-art mills in Russia, produces a wide range of products for pipes, construction, shipbuilding production, as well as for machinery manufacturing. In the mid-2000s, the mill was largely modernized, and currently installation is being carried out of the second phase of the mill's automatic process control system for finishing lines. This will allow MMK to transition from the mill's semi-automatic control mode to a fully automatic system.
