MITT: China’s annual iron ore usage to reach 1.13 billion mt by 2015

According to the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), by the end of the country's 12th five-year plan period (2011-2015) China's annual consumption of iron ore, coke and ferroalloy is expected to reach 1.13 billion mt, 380 million mt and 28 million mt respectively.
 
In 2010, China consumed 920 million mt of iron ore and 330 million mt of coke, the ministry reported. In the same year, energy consumption of the domestic iron and steel industry accounted for 13.9 percent of overall energy consumption in China.
