Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to supply CR mill for Baosteel’s Zhanjiang project

Shanghai-based Chinese steel producer Baosteel has announced that a contract signing ceremony took place on July 15 in Zhanjiang for the supply of a 2,030 mm cold rolling mill for its Zhanjiang Steel project by Japan-based Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.Baosteel has recently ordered a 2,250 mm hot strip mill and a 2,150 mm continuous slab caster for its Zhanjiang project. The 2,030 mm cold rolling mill will have an annual output capacity of 2.2 million mt and will produce cold rolled sheet used in the manufacture of automobiles and household appliances. The steels produced will include interstitial-free (IF) steel and high-strength steel.

Since 1978, Baosteel has worked with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries on various projects for the construction of steel production facilities.
