EcoSteel Recycling, LLC has announced its plans to build a rebar mill in Amory, Mississippi.

The company, a manufacturer that produces rebar from recycled steel, has applied for the necessary environmental permits to construct the $150 million rebar mill that will be located on approximately 80 acres of land. EcoSteel's president and CEO, Louis Colatriano, former Chaparral Steel executive, commented that the mill will consume an estimated 330,000 long tons of scrap annually, producing 300,000 net tons of rebar

Construction is expected to begin at the end of this year and the mill is expected to be at full production capacity within three years. The rebar produced at EcoSteel's new mill will go primarily towards the Katrina rebuilding efforts and to other nearby local projects.
