Mexican car output and domestic sales rose in December on a year-on-year basis, according to data released this week by the nation’s automotive industry association, AMIA.
According to the trade group, auto production rose 6.9 percent, year-on-year, to 222,941 units, while domestic sales surged 20.6 percent in the same period to 160,663 units. Exports improved 5.9 percent in December, year-on-year, to 206,651 units.
For the full-year 2015, Mexico produced 3.3 million units, 5.6 percent up, year-on-year. Exports and domestic sales totaled 2.7 and 1.3 million units, 4.4 and 19 percent up, year-on-year, respectively. The US and Canada remained the country’s top export destinations in 2015, receiving 1.9 million and 290,340 units, respectively.
