The Mexican government opened different steel norms for public consultation, it said on Friday.

The PROY-NMX-B-284-CANACERO-2016 norm, which comprises a number of rules for different steel grades used in different ways, will replace the NMX-B-284-1987 regulation.

The norm is opened for public consultation for the next 60 days.

The Mexican government explained the PROY-NMX-B-284-CANACERO-2016 norm establishes the requisites that sheet and rolled plates, beams, sections, high resistance and low alloy rebar, among other products, should meet.

The norm includes three different types of steel: A, B and C.

The A-type includes 290, 345 and 380-grade steel for welded structures, screwed or riveted, as well as 415 and 450-grade steel used for the construction of bolted or riveted steel bridges as well as for other welded structures.

The B-type includes 345-grade steel, while the C-type includes the 345-grade steel only for sections.
