Mexican domestic sales of cars have increased 18.8 percent in October, year-on-year, to 119,867 units, despite lower exports and production volumes, the nation’s automotive industry association, AMIA, said this week.

Mexican car output in October reached 326,876 units, 1 percent down year-on-year. Likewise, exports in the tenth month of the year also declined, totaling 245,224 units, 4.7 percent down year-on-year.

Despite the year-on-year declines in October, Mexico’s accumulated production and exports figures continued growing in the same basis of comparison.

As for the cumulative period of January to October, Mexico’s car output totaled 2.8 million units, 5.6 percent up year-on-year, while exports and domestic sales reached 2.3 and 1 million units, 5.4 and 19.6 percent up, year-on-year, respectively.
