Steel production in Mexico fell by 3.6 percent year-on-year in January-November 2015, to 16.84 million tons.

According with the figures were released by the country’s steel association, Canacero, this week, Mexico’s apparent steel consumption increased by 8.9 percent over the same period, to 26.59 million tons from 24.43 million tons.

This growth, however, was due to a rise in the volumes of steel products imported into the country, according to the association. Imports accounted for 34.04 percent of Mexico’s total steel consumption from January to November last year, CANACERO added.
