Mexican steel exports to the US fall in February

Mexican steel exports to the US in February have fallen 4.63 percent, year-on-year, according to data from the US Department of Commerce.

The total of 224,897 mt accounts for 6.91 percent of the US total steel imports for the second month of the year.

In terms of US dollars, Mexican external sales increased 3.8 percent to $225.3 million in the period, year-on-year, as a result of an increase in the price of steel.

Mexican steel was traded at an average price of $1,001/mt in February. The amount includes all types of steel, the US Department of Commerce said, while the average price of steel imported to the US in February was $918.70/mt.
