Mexican auto output and domestic sales rise in July

Both Mexican auto production and domestic auto sales rose in July, according to information released on Monday by the country’s automotive industry association, AMIA.

AMIA said Mexican auto production in July rose 11.8 percent, year-on-year, to 284,398 units. Domestic sales in the same month increased 17.9 percent, year-on-year, to 131,764 units, while exports slightly declined 0.4 percent, year-on-year, to 225,530 units.

As for the accumulated period of January to July, Mexican sales of cars totaled 853,620 units, 18.3 percent up, year-on-year.

Mexican production and exports of autos in the same period reached 1.9 million units and 1.5 million units, respectively, 1.2 and 4.8 percent down, year-on-year.
