Finland-based global engineering and technology company Metso Corporation has lately issued its financial results for the second quarter of 2010, anticipating that the recovery will continue in most of the company's customer industries.

According to the financial results, an operating profit of €140 million was registered in the second quarter of 2010, compared with an operating profit of €65.9 million in the second quarter of 2009. Net sales revenues in the period in question rose from €1.25 billion in the period of the previous year to €1.37 billion.

New orders worth €1.67 billion were received in April-June this year, 67 percent more than €1 billion in the corresponding period of 2009.

"As we have previously estimated, Metso's positive development continued in the second quarter. The overall positive tone in the global economy and the recovery of demand continues in most of our customer industries, especially in the emerging economies," said Metso president and CEO Jorma Eloranta.
