Finnish industrial group Metso Group's Metso Foundries Jyväskylä Inc. on Thursday, September 16, concluded personnel negotiations concerning temporary layoffs and reductions in personnel numbers.

According to a company statement, the measures taken on the basis of the negotiations, targeting increased competitiveness, will affect 70 persons in total, a significantly lower figure than originally estimated, of which 46 will be redundancies. The rest of the reductions will comprise pension arrangements, part-time employments and internal transfers. In addition, temporary layoffs will continue in all personnel groups in accordance with the work load situation. The measures affecting personnel are expected to be implemented by March 2011.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, the negotiations on temporary layoffs and personnel reductions started on July 1. Metso then estimated that a total of about 240 employees in all personnel groups would be affected.

Metso Foundries Jyväskylä produces hand-molded iron castings for Metso and outside customers.
