According to the data issued by the Ukrainian iron ore and steel producer Metinvest Holding (Metinvest), in 2010 its subsidiary Khartsyzsk Pipe Works (KhPW) saw its large diameter (LD) pipe output decrease to 308,890 mt from 523,160 mt in 2009, registering a 41 percent drop year on year.

In December 2010, KhPW produced 55,700 mt of LD pipes - up 39.7 percent compared to November when the plant produced 39,860 mt of LD pipes.

As SteelOrbis previous reported, in early 2010 KhPW was facing problems with orders. At the time, media reports said that in 2009 KhPW benefited from the construction of the Central Asia-China gas pipeline project. However, in late 2009 the construction of the project was completed and KhPW's production figures consequently declined and the plant was close to stopping production.
