Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that it has completed the reconstruction of the pelletizing plant at its iron ore subsidiary Central Mining and Processing Plant (Central GOK) and that the complex now produces products that meet the best international quality standards. Investments in the project amounted to UAH 52 million ($1.96 million).

Metinvest stated that, thanks to the new equipment, the plant has begun to produce pellets of uniform size and increased strength. The use of modern technology has enabled the plant to increase productivity by seven percent.

Central GOK’s general director Dmitry Shevchik stated that, in order to insure the plant in a situation when the prices for iron ore are declining, they decided to start the production of brand-new products, which will be in demand on the world market. In addition, Metinvest Group’s sales director Dmitry Nikolaenko stated that, with the new products produced at Central GOK, Metinvest plans to enter new iron ore markets in western Europe and the countries of the Asia-Pacific region, which is a serious step forward to strengthening the company's position as a leading manufacturer.
