Ukrainian mining and steel producing group Metinvest has announced that it has completed testing of high-strength and wearproof plates for lining the body of BelAZ dump trucks at its subsidiary Central GOK.

Performance testing of 16ХGМPHTR and 25ХGSR grade plates had been underway for 18 months. The results showed that wear and tear on the the lining of the loading platforms was reduced by three times on average. Due to the use of high-strength rolled products, the service life of dump truck linings will increase by 1.5 times and the costs for relining will be 30 percent lower.

High-strength and wearproof plates are used for mining equipment, elevating mechanisms and hoisting cranes and in the construction industry. High-strength rolled products are manufactured according to "quenching and tempering" technology. It has many advantages compared to commercial steel grades (for example, 09G2S with 355 MPa strength class). Performance characteristics of structures and different products are improving: their service life and load-carrying capacity increase, while metal consumption and production costs decline, Metinvest stated.
