Metinvest plans to invest $3.5 billion to upgrade Ilyich

Vladimir Boyko, general director of Ukrainian steelmaker Ilyich Iron & Steel Works (Ilyich), has stated that Ukraine's largest vertically integrated mining and steelmaking company Metinvest Group plans to invest $3.5 billion to upgrade Ilyich's plant, as reported by Ukrainian news agency Interfax.

Mariupol, Ukraine-based Ilyich is expected to produce 16 million mt of sintered iron ore per year, 7.0-7.2 million mt of cast iron and 8.5-9.0 million mt of steel after the upgrade.
