Metalloinvest’s Q3 iron ore output down slightly from Q2 levels

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the third quarter of the current year.

Accordingly, in the given quarter Metalloinvest's iron ore production decreased by 0.6 percent quarter on quarter to 9.734 million mt. Its iron ore shipments, meanwhile, increased by 8.5 percent quarter on quarter in the same period to 2.996 million mt.

Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the third quarter amounted to 5.511 million mt and 3.441 million mt, down 3.9 percent and up 1.5 percent respectively, both quarter on quarter.

Metalloinvest saw an 18.7 percent quarter-on-quarter decrease in HBI/direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the third quarter of the current year to 1.118 million mt and a 30.7 percent decrease in shipment volumes to 449,000 mt, compared to the previous quarter.

In the third quarter, Metalloinvest's crude steel production was down 1.9 percent to 1.071 million mt, while its pig iron output increased by 7.5 percent to 591,000 mt, both quarter on quarter.
