The Russian iron ore and steel producing company Metalloinvest Holding (Metalloinvest) has announced that its subsidiary Oskol Metallurgical Plant (OEMK) has begun the installation of a new ultrasonic complex for detecting flaws in rolled steel products at its section rolling plant No. 1.
The new complex, supplied by German-based Institut Dr. Foerster, will control the quality of rolled steel products, detecting internal and surface flaws in heavy-gauge rolled steel products, and will allow the plant to increase its range of section sizes from the current maximum of 180 mm up to 210 mm.
The installation and startup of the complex is scheduled to be completed by the end of October this year.
