Metalloinvest’s iron ore output up 3.4 percent in Q2 from Q1 level

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the second quarter of the current year.
 
Accordingly, in the given quarter Metalloinvest's iron ore production increased by 3.4 percent quarter on quarter to 10.37 million mt - its highest quarterly volume in the last five years. Its iron ore shipments increased by 1.9 percent quarter on quarter in the same period to 2.88 million mt.
 
Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the second quarter amounted to 6.33 million mt and 3.7 million mt, up 6.1 percent and 19.6 percent respectively, both quarter on quarter.
 
In the second quarter, Metalloinvest's crude steel production increased by 9.4 percent quarter on quarter to 1.19 million mt, due to an increase in productivity following higher demand for the company’s products, while its pig iron output rose by two percent to 767,000 mt, compared to the first quarter of this year.
