Metalloinvest’s iron ore output slightly down in Q1 from Q4 levels

Metalloinvest, a leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer based in Russia, has announced its operational results for the first quarter of the current year.

Accordingly, in the given period Metalloinvest's iron ore production decreased by 0.9 percent quarter on quarter to 9.5 million mt. Its iron ore shipments decreased by 11.6 percent quarter on quarter in the same period to 2.435 million mt.

Metalloinvest's pellet production and shipment volumes in the first quarter amounted to 5.8 million mt and 3.557 million mt, up 0.8 percent and down 1.5 percent respectively, both quarter on quarter.

Metalloinvest saw a 3.3 percent quarter-on-quarter increase in HBI/direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the first quarter of the current year to 1.4 million mt and a 10.8 percent increase in shipment volumes to 0.649 million mt compared to the previous quarter.

Crude steel production in the given period was up by 2.1 percent to 1.196 million mt , while pig iron output went down by 8.1 percent to 524,000 mt, both quarter on quarter.
