According to MEPS, a well-known steel information consultancy, China's steel production will hit 830 million mt for the full year of 2014, up five percent compared to 2013. In addition, the year-on-year growth rate of hot rolled production will decrease from 10 percent in 2013 to 2.5 percent in 2014. The production of shipbuilding steel will pick up, while the production of flat steel products will increase by 66.5 million mt, driven by the growth in demand from the household appliances industry.
