Over the past two months Shanghai-based steel producer Meishan Steel has successfully developed SG365 steel and X52 pipeline steel.

Classified as medium and high strength grade according to the Japanese standard JISG3116, SG365 steel is mainly used to produce 50 kg large-sized gas cylinders, and allow the thickness of the cylinder walls to be reduced from 3.5 mm to 2.6 mm. The successful development of this product will reduce steel consumption while still guaranteeing safety of use. Meishan Steel's SG365 steel has already been exported to Japan, South Korea and some other countries and regions.

X52 pipeline steel is used in producing oil and gas line pipes. Meishan Steel has just completed production of 5,300 mt of X52 pipeline steel for its first order from Tianjin-based Huayou Steel Pipe Co., Ltd.
