Russian steel producer Mechel has announced that its subsidiary, Vyartsilya Metal Products Plant ZAO (VMZ), has signed an agreement with German-based company Ernst Koch GmbH for the supply and installation of a new straight-flow KGT 25/47 type drawing mill.

The straight-flow sevenfold drawing mill with an intensive refrigerating system and computerization of its quality control system will produce low carbon wire of 2.0-7.0 mm in diameter, in coils weighing up to three metric tons.

The commissioning of the new mill will allow VMZ to increase its monthly average output volume by 1,500 mt, to raise its production capacity and product quality, as well as to improve working conditions for the equipment operators.

Moreover, in line with Mechel's investment program for technological modernization, VMZ has already commissioned several new nail-making machines and modernized the mill for unoiled wire production.
