Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steelmaking companies, has announced that work has been temporarily halted at its Mechel Campia Turzii and Ductil Steel Buzau plants, both located in Romania, due to severe weather conditions affecting the shipment of raw materials.

Due to heavy snowstorms, transportation by heavy-duty trucks along Romanian roads, as well as domestic railway transportation, has been halted or limited, hampering billet supply to Mechel Campia Turzii and Ductil Steel Buzau.

Mechel stated that Ductil Steel Buzau and Mechel Campia Turzii are due to resume operations on February 22 and February 24 respectively once the effects of the snowstorms are eliminated, adding that the temporary halting of these plants will not affect the company's production plans for the year.
