Mechel sees 28.7 percent rise in net profit in 2011

In its financial results for 2011, Russian mining and steel group Mechel saw its net profit rise by 28.7 percent compared to 2010 to $12.5 billion. In 2011, the company's operating income rose by 19.5 percent year on year reaching $1.83 billion.

Mechel's adjusted EBITDA increased by 18.7 percent year on year to $2.393 billion in 2011. The adjusted EBITDA margin, which had been 20.68 percent in 2010, declined to 19.07 percent in 2011.
