Mechel continues railway spur track construction to Elga coal deposit

Mechel, one of the leading Russian mining and steel groups, has announced that its coal mining subsidiary Yakutugol is continuing the construction of the road to the Elga coal deposit.

Accordingly, the total length of the railroad will be more than 315 kilometers. Currently, traffic is possible from the Ulak station towards the Elga deposit up to the 270th km. In addition, 80 km of the access motor road have been repaired and 143 km of motor roadbed and 37 km of pioneer road have been constructed.

Up to this date, Yakutugol repaired a total of 59 km of railroads, erected 24 railroad bridges, laid more than 100 water-drain pipes, and plans to erect eight additional highway bridges across the Undytkan, Undytyn, Tuksani, Algama, Chapa, Karaslak, and Taik rivers.

The relocation of the construction equipment to the Upper Ulak station is scheduled to start in mid-February. For the first stage of this project will be allocated approximately 30 machinery units as well as equipment from Yakutugol and Mechel Mining's subsidiaries.
