Richmond, Virginia, US-based coal producer Massey Energy Company announced on May 4 that it has opened a sales branch office in Lugano, Switzerland called Massey European Sales Inc. to facilitate and increase metallurgical coal sales to global markets, particularly to Eastern Europe and the Middle East

"As the world economies continue to emerge from the global recession, our European sales office will help us to increase metallurgical coal sales and take full advantage of improving market conditions," said Baxter F. Phillips, Jr., president of Massey Energy.

Massey believes that the supply of high quality metallurgical coal will continue to tighten as the recovery in the global manufacturing sector continues, the company statement stressed.
