Italian steel company Marcegaglia has made a joint offer for Taranto-based Italian steelmaker Ilva together with global steel producer ArcelorMittal, according to Reuters.

Within the previous deadline of February 10, a total of 29 companies had officially expressed interest in the acquisition of Ilva. Last month, Ilva extended the deadline for binding offers for the acquisition of the whole steelmaking group to June 30.

Meanwhile, Turkish integrated steelmaker Erdemir has indicated that its analysis regarding the Ilva privatization process is still in progress, while adding that no binding offer has been submitted by the company.
