Malaysia sets preliminary safeguard duty on imports of wire rod

The Malaysian government has announced the preliminary determinations in its safeguard investigation regarding imports of wire rod and deformed bar in coils. 
 
Accordingly, the preliminary safeguard duty rate is 13.90 percent for imports of wire rod and deformed bar in coils. Turkey will be exempt from the preliminary safeguard duty.
 
The investigation launched in May this year upon the complaint lodged by Malaysia Steel Association (MSA) covers the period between October 1, 2012 and September 30, 2015. 
 
The goods under investigation are currently classified under Harmonized System Code Numbers 7213.10.000, 7213.91.000 and 7227.91.000.
