Malaysia's Ministry of International Trade and Industry has announced that the Malaysian government will impose restrictions on import of alloy steel products under the HS Code 7227, including hot rolled bars and wire rod.

Import of the products in question will be subject to licensing as of January 1, 2014 to ensure that imported alloy steel products meet established quality and safety requirements.
