Macsteel takes over service center from Corus

According to an announcement made last week, Macsteel Service Centers USA Inc., is acquiring the business and assets of Regal Steel Supply, located in Stockton, California, which is currently a joint venture of the Anglo-Dutch steel maker Corus, and a local company Birch Lake Investments. Regal Steel is a long products service center with operating facilities in Stockton and Fontana, California maintaining an extensive inventory of beams and other structural products supplying building and construction industries. The terms of the purchase have not been disclosed. Macsteel Service Centers USA is one of the leading companies in the North American metals service center industry. Through its operating entities, Edgcomb Metals Company, Ferro Union, California Steel & Tube, Baldwin Steel and newly acquired Regal Steel, it operates 31 service centers, plants and offices, servicing the majority of the U.S. market., Puerto Rico and Mexico. The company processes and distributes a full range of carbon steel, general line, stainless and aluminum flat rolled and specialty products to customers throughout North America. These products include the manufacture of mechanical tube and rolled-formed products; value added plate processing and prepainted metals. Macsteel Service Centers USA is owned by the global steel company, Macsteel Holdings.
