LNM Group met with Turkish customers

LNM Group, the second largest steel maker in the world, organized a reception to meet with its customers in Turkey. The reception was held in the evening on December 17, 2003 at the Bosphorous Pasha Hotel in Istanbul. Attending from LNM Group, General Director of Ispat Sidex Mr.N.Chaudhary, LNM Marketing FZE's Director Mr. Y.P. Kumar, General Manager (Finance) Mr.R.C. Saraf, Country Manager for Turkey Mr. M.Barve, and several division managers from Ispat Sidex and LNM Marketing FZE were present. Addressing the guests, Mr.Chaudhary emphasized the importance of the Turkish market for LNM Group. Mr.Chaudhary also said that the event was organized as part of their approach to be as close as possible to their customers in order to get direct feedback on their needs and problems in an effort to improve the service given. Mr. Y.P.Kumar mentioned that LNM Group started supplying material into Turkish market back in 1996 from their Ispat Karmet mill in Kazakhstan. Mr.Kumar went on to explain that the group has changed its strategy for Turkish market during the past couple of years, and started to serve most of their customers from Ispat Sidex mill, acquired in Romania by last quarter of 2001, using the mill's geographical advantage. Mr.Kumar also underlined that LNM Group has no intention to compete with the local mill in Turkey, but instead complement the local mill in Turkish market which is a net importer of flat rolled steel products. Later on Mr. V.B. Garg, the Manager for coated products at Ispat Sidex gave detailed information to the customers on the new investments and developments at the mill. Most of the leading Turkish steel importers have attended the reception along with the designated traders serving the parties.
