LNM and trade unions were invited into negotiation

According to recent market reports, Polish Treasury Ministry has invited LNM and trade unions into negotiation on October 13, 2003 to find out a common field for the labour agreement. LNM and unions submitted their positions to the ministry in the negotiation. Accordingly, the unions required ten year employment guarantee with a large privatization bonus. However, ministry has expressed to the unions that PHS has to reduce the number of employees in line with the agreement between the government and the European Commission. Furthermore, ministry officials stated that no further negotiating time will be given to LNM. The other option could be to sign the final agreement without an agreed social package. LNM expects to sign an agreement with the unions within the next two weeks.
