As previously reported by SteelOrbis in mid-April, Italian steel producer Leali Group had decided to shut down its Roè Volciano, Brescia-based carbon steel rebar mill. However, the company has changed its mind as its access to redundancy funds for the next 12 months will not be dependent on the closure of the plant, but will be justified by the current critical economic period.

The group has important assets such as its Borgo Valsugana, Trento-based billet producing steelworks and its Odolo, Brescia-based special long steel rolling mill. Also, the electric arc furnace owned by Leali is working at a very reduced pace since demand has not recovered yet from the 2008 crisis.
