Welland, Ontario-based pipe manufacturer Lakeside Steel Inc. announced Thursday that will invest an addition US$10 million to expand its Thomasville, Alabama facility.

Lakeside Steel announced in late March that it plans to construct a new tubular end-finishing and heat treatment facility near the company's new casing mill currently under construction. The expansion to the end-finishing facility will allow Lakeside Steel to end-finish and heat treat casing products in addition to finishing for tubular products.

Following the completion of the facility, Lakeside Steel will be capable of processing 4.5" to 5.5" diameter casing pipes, with a capacity of up to 100,000 tons per year.
