The cabinet of ministers of Kyrgyzstan has announced that it has extended the ban on exports of ferrous metal scrap and waste to destinations outside the customs territory of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), which includes Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia, in addition to Kyrgyzstan, for another six months, entering into force on August 7.

The aim of the extension of the measure is to protect the country’s natural resources and to ensure the stability of the domestic market.

The cabinet has also introduced restrictions - in the amount of not more than 500 kilograms - on the export of precious metals and their raw materials for another six months.

In August last year, Kyrgyzstan also implemented a temporary ban on exports of ferrous metals scrap and waste to regions outside the countries of the EAEU, as SteelOrbis previously reported.
