Kardemir’s crude steel output up 33.4 percent in Q1

Turkish integrated long steel producer Kardemir Karabuk Demir Celik Sanayi ve Ticaret A.S. (Kardemir) has announced that in the first quarter of the current year its crude steel production increased by 33.4 percent to 607,434 mt and its pig iron production rose by 38 percent to 551,358 mt, both compared to the same period of 2016. 
 
In the first three months, the company’s total rail, section and angle production amounted to 106,307 mt, up 47 percent year on year, while its total finished steel production increased by 85,000 mt year on year to 319,175 mt. 
 
Kardemir stated that in the current year it plans to produce 2.45 million mt of crude steel compared to 2.17 million mt recorded in the previous year.
