JSW Steel’s crude steel output down one percent in Q2 FY 2015-16

JSW Steel, one of the largest Indian steelmakers, produced 3.25 million mt of crude steel in the second quarter (ended September 30) of the 2015-16 financial year, showing a decrease of one percent year on year, due to the closure of one of the blast furnaces at the Vijayanagar plant for relining work.

According to the company's statement, in the given quarter JSW Steel produced 2.57 million mt of flat rolled products, decreasing by two percent, while its long rolled product output totaled 640,000 mt, up 15 percent, both on year-on-year basis.

Meanwhile, in the first half of the 2015-16 fiscal year, JSW Steel’s crude steel production increased by four percent year on year to 6.65 million mt.
