Indian steelmaker JSW Steel Ltd (JSW) has released its production results for the first quarter of financial year 2008-2009.
Accordingly, during the period in question the mill recorded crude steel production of 976,000 metric tons, up 22 percent year on year.
JSW's output of long products increased by 18 percent during the given period, while its output of flat rolled products (HRC and plates) decreased by 12 percent, compared with the same period last year. The respective figures in metric tons were 92,000 and 592,000.
The decrease in the flat rolled output was due to the shutdown of JSW's hot strip mill for 17 days in June 2008. The mill was recommissioned on June 29 with an enhanced production capacity of 3.2 million mt per year.
